I’m not really much of a Halloween celebrator, but I really love a lot of the decorations. Cute little skeletons, zombie anythings, pumpkins and bats are all awesome! So I’ve been browsing, looking to see what people have been making. There’s all kinds of cute stuff!

Brit Lit Vest

Going to the yarn shop is dangerous, especially if you go during knit-chat time. So many people with so many projects from patterns I’ve never seen, and easy access to magazines to flip through! On the bright side, the Brit Lit Vest seems to be a quick knit, and is totally awesome.

I think that hats may be one of my favorite items to knit. They’re usually pretty quick, and there’s a hat for just about every occassion. I especially love winter hats, because it’s a free license to be ridiculous(ly awesome!).

An idea came to me. I have quite a few projects on needles. Many of them have been there, untouched, for quite a while. Clearly I need some motivation to actually, I don’t know, FINISH THEM. So, I think from now on, I will make a post at the end of the month showcasing all my WIPs and my sad, sorry excuses for why they aren’t finished yet. I have 8 for August, oy, and only a few were even cast on this month!

The Liza Rose pattern in Yarn Forward Magazine, June 2010 looks fantastic in Malabrigo Worsted, and I love my new scarflet!

Finished Object: Summer Lace Shawl. A very open, light weight rectangular shawl that I made by knitting a scarf pattern on big needles with extra stitches cast on.

I’m knitting Geodesic Cardigan as my first garment. In retrospect, this may not have been the best “first project” I could have chosen, for various reasons.

It turns out that the legions of sock knitters are not crazy. I went the lemming route and dove in, and am really enjoying sock knitting so far! I made one “everyday sock” and have cast on a Monkey. Next up is a toe up sock with a slip stitch pattern. I opened a can of worms here!
